JUST IN: Acquires major Swedish book binder
SDK DR Service in Stockholm acquires Aros bokbinderi, one of Sweden’s largest book binders. The purchase is effective already from May 1st. With the purchase, SDK becomes a complete supplier in finishing, logistics and distribution. SDK also recently bought Ranhammar – read more about it here (in Swedish).
SDK is taking over the entire business of Aros, the property contract and the personell, currently about 20 people in Swedish town Västerås.
Serdar Toprak, owner of SDK, says to Grafkom Info that it gets easier for their customers (printing companies) when SDK can offer all services under one roof.
Building one hub
“We plan to have one hub at one address where our customers can send all their material. Here we will handle everything internally to make sure that everything ends up in right time at the right place,” says Serdar Toprak.
“Now, many customers are sending their cover to Ranhammar, the content to Aros and after that SDK takes care of the distribution. From now on, they can send everything to one address and we take care of the the entire job,” says Torpak.
Toprak underlines that this will imply cost savings for his customers, both in terms of cheaper logistics and saved time.
”Take care of the independent book binders”
The number of independent book binders are decreasing, and this could be a potential problem for all printing houses without in-house finishing. Serdar at SDK believes this is a vital question for the graphic industry.
“All print houses can not do finishing themselves. The printers must try to take care of the few independent book binders that are left, we want to build a long-term relationship with our customers,” says Toprak.
Aros Bokbinderi has a turn over of approximately 20 million Swedish kronor.
