Report: Fresh fibre paper is sometimes better for the environment than recycled paper
Holmen Paper – one of Europe’s major paper producers – has ordered a study from the Swedish Environmental Research Institute, IVL. The report looks into the differences between fresh fibre based and recycled paper – from an environmental point of view.
Paper made from fresh fibers can have a lower environmental impact than recycled paper provided that the electricity comes from renewable energy sources and forestry is conducted in a sustainable way, says the report.
