
Sappi reduces CO2 emissions from its Galerie sortiment
Finish-based paper producer Sappi is reducing its direct fossil Co2 emissions from its Galerie paper sortiment considerably by switching to bio-based energy. This is reported by the company in a press release.
Sappi is switching to pellets at the company’s plant in Kirkniemi in Finland, the world’s largest plant for coated paper. The direct emissions are reduced by as much as 40 per cent for the company’s Galerie sortiment.
Sappi is producing its Galerie series in Kirkniemi and from the 750,000 tonne paper that is produced here consumers get almost 5 billion magazines and catalogues a year.
Sappi has invested 16.5 mln euro in its bio fuel plant. The Finnish Minister of Climate and Environment, Kai Mykkänen, participated at the opening of the new plant. You can read more about the investment and the opening here.
