A new major market player emerges in the Baltic region

Estonian investment firm Infortar has agreed to sell its holdings in Tallinna Raamatutrükikoda, security printer Vaba Maa, and a 60% stake in CardPlus to Print Best, Infortar announced recently in a press release.

A new major market player emerges in the Baltic region

Infortar CEO Martti Talgre stated that the group is divesting its print business to focus on its core sectors: shipping, energy, and real estate. Printing represents under 1% of the group's revenues. The purchase price remains undisclosed.

Capacity boost for Print Best

Print Best CEO Tanel Venderström highlighted that the acquisition enables faster growth than building new capacity organically. He added that the companies’ profiles complement each other, with Print Best handling long-run work and Tallinna Raamatutrükikoda specializing in short-run flexibility.

Last year, Print Best (based in Viljandi) grew revenue 13% to €23.1 million, with a net profit of €1.3 million. Export sales account for 94% of business, led by Sweden, Denmark, and Germany.

End of a 20-year run

Infortar acquired Tallinna Raamatutrükikoda in late 2024 to consolidate its print arms, subsequently merging Printon and Arnego under the brand. While revenue rose to €12.1 million last year, restructuring costs resulted in a €1.14 million loss, local paper Äripäev reports.

The deal exits Infortar from the printing industry after 20 years, having entered the market in 2004 via Vaba Maa. The acquisition is pending regulatory antitrust approval.
