About ten years ago when I worked at the Finnish Printing Federation there where often discussions in our board about Estonian printing houses, competing with our Finnish printers with unsustainably low prices.
Comments like “They utilize the EU investment scheme and gives away the money to their customers via too low prizes” were often heard. So I decided to organize a trip for the board members to visit the Baltic printers and how they operate. That was an eye opener. What we witnessed were technically advanced, well organized, and efficient companies.
Now you have a perfect opportunity to join the NOPA meeting and visit Tallinn Bookprinters, employing some 120 persons. The other printer we will visit is an aerosol can printer, Metaprint, one of the leading can printers in Europe with production also in the Netherlands. Estonia has made big progress in utilizing IT in many different fields in society. We will visit the Estonian Briefing Center and get an overview of their applications. Distances are short so we have good time for all three visits.
Sean Smyth, the man behind the Smithers reports on the outlook of the printing industry, will give us an interesting presentation of both technical and product related trends in our industry. In the reports they have figures of the distribution of different printing methods, developments in the consumption of materials that the industry uses and trends in the demand of different kinds of printed products.
Kroonpress used to be a long-time member of NOPA and have now switched from magazine and commercial printing to packaging printing. Andres Kull the CEO of the company will tell us about their journey.
And as a tradition at NOPA seminars, we will get a report about the printing industry in Estonia given by Katre Savi, the CEO of the Association of Estonian Printing and Packaging Industry.
At the seminar we will also have presentations from world leading experts in the newspaper, magazine and book sector.
In the programme there will also be time to meet old and new colleaugues and exchange thoughts about our industry. At NOPA events there is an open and friendly atmosphere that our members appreciate.
If you have not yet registered for the event, look for the mail Mats Olsson sent on September, the 20 th and register for the event.
Looking forward to meeting you in Tallinn!
