Stibo invests in offset – want to be a “graphic supermarket”

Danish printing giant Stibo has decided to invest in a KBA Rapida to its plant in Danish town Horsens. This is a big investment for the company, Stibo comments in a news letter.

The installation is supposed to be finalised in November.

Furthermore, Stibo says the machine is optimised for the new market demand for smaller runs and more orders. According to Stibo, the job change is done in 35 seconds. KBA Rapida is also much more energy effective with 30-40 % lower energy consumption compared to similar presses.

Stibo sees the investment as a step in its change from a production company with focus on large runs to a “graphic supermarket.” This is something Stibo underlined already when it acquired Swedish Gigantprint a year ago.

In an email to Grafkom.info, Stibo’s Ejvind Holm says: This is a 8-color press with a varnish unit and the exact specification is KBA Rapida 106-8+L SW4 SPC QCC ALV2.

The machine can automatically change plates in just 35 seconds and print 4+4 with 15.000 sheets per hour. The KBA is also equipped with KBA’s Autorun system which makes it possible to automatically produce several jobs without any interference from the operator.
