Postnord Strålfors reported last summer that it intended to purchase the Finnish print and communication company Edita Prima . Later, the Finnish Competition Authority announced that it would look into the “consequences of the merger.”
The Finnish Competition Authority indicated that a merger could potentially harm the competition in the market for transactional print.
The Finnish Competition Authority writes in a note that ”the market for transactional print is already very concentrated. If the merger were to be concluded, the total market share would reach a high level, and only two major players would have been left in this market.”
The parties have chosen to cancel the transaction after the Finnish Competition Authority’s statement.
“Edita Prima will continue its business as a supplier of printed and digital communication within Edita Group, just as we do today. Editas Prima’s financial results during 2023 were very strong and we will continue developing the company further,” says Kristiina Kujala, Edita Group in a press release .
